National Pet Day (April 11th) is right around the corner and in honor of this day, we put together a list of some of the top shelters in our area. If you’re in search or know someone who is, here are some great local shelters to adopt a new four-legged friend!

Saving Grace

Saving Grace Adoption is located in Wake Forest, NC and was established in 2004 to help dogs find their furever home. One of the ways that Saving Grace sets themselves apart is with their “Matchmaker” program. This program allows Saving Grace to help match you and your family up with the dog to fit your lifestyle.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions

Located in Raleigh on the border of Cary, Second Chance Pet Adoptions is the oldest no-kill rescue in Wake County. They have rescued stray and abandoned cats and dogs since 1987 and helped these animals find there forever homes.

They host many events including adoption days, fun runs, fundraisers and educational events to promote responsible pet ownership.

SPCA of Wake County

The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) of Wake County was founded in 1967 and is located in Raleigh, NC. They are a no-kill organization and take on over 3,000 animals a year including cats, dogs, bunnies, and other small pets.

They host many events to educate children and adults about responsible pet ownership.
